February Brass Mill Imports, Exports Up

U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products increased in February, according to data reported by the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council.
Imports totaled 36.6 million pounds during the month, a 2.3 percent increase over February 2017. Exports were up 1 percent year over year to 20.7 million pounds.
Through February, total imports of brass mill products increased 2 percent year over year to 75.2 million pounds. Total exports through the first two months of 2018 were up 0.2 percent over the year-ago period at 40.7 million pounds.
In February, Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products at 7.1 million pounds, followed by Canada at 6.8 million pounds, China at 1.2 million pounds, United Arab Emirates at 681,642 pounds and Germany at 541,068 pounds.
Imports from Germany totaled 7.8 million pounds in February, followed by South Korea at 4 million pounds, Mexico at 4 million pounds, Vietnam at 3.3 million pounds and Canada at 2.9 million pounds.
Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 12.2 million pounds in February, while exports of those products totaled 8.3 million pounds. Imports of pipe and tube products totaled 13 million pounds, while exports of those products totaled 3.8 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 8.7 million pounds, while exports totaled 7 million pounds.
