February Steel Shipments Up 4.1 Percent

U.S. steel mills shipped 7.5 million net tons of steel in February, reported the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington, D.C. Steel shipments for the month were down 1.5 percent from January and up 4.1 percent from February 2017.
Shipments of hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip decreased 2 percent from January, cold-rolled sheets decreased 3 percent and hot-rolled sheets decreased 5 percent.
Through February, the U.S. has shipped 15.2 million net tons of steel, a 1.5 percent increase over the first two months of 2017.
