March Steel Shipments Up 7.9 Percent

U.S. steel mills shipped 8.3 million net tons of steel in March, reported the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington. Steel shipments for the month were up 10.3 percent from February and 7.9 percent from March 2017.
Shipments of hot-rolled sheets increased 12 percent from February, hot-dipped galvanized sheets and strip increased 11 percent, and cold-rolled sheets increased 10 percent.
Through March, the U.S. has shipped 23.5 million net tons of steel, a 3.7 percent increase over the first three months of 2017.
