Samuel Steel Pickling Company, a division of Samuel, Son & Co. Ltd., has installed a new hot-roll off-line heavy gauge slitter at its Twinsburg, Ohio, facility. The ½-inch by 74-inch slitter will be operational by the middle of December.
The equipment will be capable of processing material yield strength up to 70,000 pounds per square inch at 0.375 gauge and 80,000 pounds per square inch at 0.250 gauge, with a maximum coil weight of 80,000 pounds. The line is designed with two injection slitter heads and is capable of slitting ½-inch thick material at the full width of 74 inches.
“With 14.5 inch arbors and 20 inch diameter knives, the new slitter is a robust machine that will provide additional value-add capabilities,” said Rick Snyder, president of the Samuel Steel Pickling Group. “We are pleased to now provide our customers with a one-stop-shop for pickling as well as off line heavy gauge slitting.”
The line will process both hot-rolled black and hot-rolled pickle and oil. The line will also have rework and rewind capability.
