Global Steel Production Rebounds in February

World crude steel production for the 71 countries reporting to worldsteel totaled 148.8 million metric tons in February, a 3.7 percent increase compared with the same month in 2023. 

U.S. production in February totaled 6.5 million tons, down 1.2 percent. Through two months, U.S. production was down 2.6 percent to 13 million tons.

For North America as a whole, production totaled 8.7 million tons in February, a 1.3 percent decline. Year-to-date production of 17.7 million was down 2.2 percent.

China bounced back from a decline in January with production of 81.2 million tons in February, up 3.5 percent; India produced 11.8 million tons, up 11.4 percent.
