COVID-19 has claimed two more trade shows, as METALCON 2020 and FABTECH have both been canceled. METALCON was slated for October in Las Vegas, while FABTECH was planned for the same location the following month.
“We must do the things necessary to keep ourselves safe,” said METALCON co-founder and CEO Frank A. Stasiowski. “Accordingly, in your best interest, our family of METALCON people, we’ve decided to postpone METALCON20 fully one year. To their credit, Las Vegas and the state of Nevada have done everything they can to try to get us to open up in October and to have our convention there.”
METALCON 2021 is scheduled to take place at the Tampa Convention Center, Tampa, Fla. on October 6 to 8 2021. Visit https://www.metalcon.com/metalcon20/public/enter.aspx to register for the conference.
"After ongoing consultation and extensive efforts to identify alternatives to present the event this year, we have determined we have no choice but to cancel FABTECH 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic," a statement on the home page of the show declared.
With the event shuttered, the next FABTECH event is scheduled for May 4-6 in Monterrey, Mexico. The next U.S. event is scheduled for Sept. 13-16 in Chicago. The U.S. date is earlier than the past, as FABTECH organizers announced plans to shift the Chicago event to the summer in 2019.
