Port Strike Ends, Deal in Place Until January

By on

The International Longshoremen’s Association and the United States Maritime Alliance Ltd. have reached a tentative agreement on wages and have agreed to extend the Master Contract until Jan. 15, 2025, to return to the bargaining table to negotiate all other outstanding issues. Effective immediately, all current job actions covered by the Master Contract resumed.

The strike lasted just three days. On Oct. 1, nearly 50,000 port workers on the East and Gulf coasts went on strike on Tuesday, threatening the domestic supply chain.

Estimates suggested the damage from the strike could reach $5 billion per day.
