Red Metal Shipments Decline in August

Shipments of copper products declined in August compared with the previous month, reports the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association, Overland Park, Kan.
Total warehouse shipments decreased 4.3 percent in August to 19.4 million pounds. Finished goods shipments were worth $2.1 million, a decrease of 4.7 percent in value from the prior month.
Copper strip and sheet products decreased 1 percent to 4.5 million pounds in August. Copper rod, /bar/profile/hollow shipments declined 3.8 percent to 5.3 million pounds.
Among alloy products, C200/300/400 strip and sheet shipments increased 4.2 percent to 3.6 million pounds, but C200/300/400 bar products fell 22.8 percent to 3 million pounds
Among finished goods, C100 shipments were down 8 percent to $522,000, while shipments of C800/900 products fell 6.4 percent in value to $788,000.
