Red Metal Shipments Up 16 percent in August

Service center shipments of red metal products were up 16.2 percent in August over the year-ago month, reports the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association.

Total copper shipments in August increased 26.2 percent to 12.6 million pounds, while alloy shipments grew 5.9 percent to 10.2 million pounds.

Through eight months, shipments of copper and alloy products increased 10.1 percent to 168.7 million pounds.

Copper shipments through August were up 12.5 percent to 87.3 million pounds, while alloy shipments were up 7.7 percent to 81.4 million pounds.
