Steel Shipments Decline Again

Steel shipments decreased for the seventh consecutive month in the U.S. and for the tenth consecutive month in Canada, reports the Metals Service Center Institute, Rolling Meadows, Ill. Aluminum shipments increased in the U.S., but decreased for the first time this year in Canada.
U.S. service center steel shipments in May declined 7.4 percent compared with the previous year. Shipments of aluminum products increased 4 percent from May 2018.
Canadian service center steel shipments declined 6.4 percent compared with May 2018. Shipments of aluminum products decreased 1.9 percent.
