Steel Mill Shipments Tumble in July

U.S. steel mills shipped 6 million net tons of steel in July, a 0.2 percent decline from the prior month and a 25.6 decrease from July 2019, the American Iron and Steel Institute reported. For the year to date, shipments were down 16.1 percent to 47.3 million tons.
A comparison of July shipments to the previous month of June shows the following changes: hot-dipped galvanized sheet and strip, up 4 percent; cold-rolled sheet, up 2 percent; and hot-rolled sheet, down 1 percent.
