Steel Shipments Up 28.7 Percent in August

U.S. steel mills shipped 8.4 million net tons of steel in August, a 28.7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2021, the American Iron and Steel Institute reported. Shipments were also up 1.5 percent from July.
For the year to date, total shipments of 62.7 million tons were up 16.5 percent increase compared to 2020.
On a product basis, corrosion-resistant sheet and strip is up 23 percent compared with the first eight months of 2020, while cold-rolled sheet shipments are up 17 percent and hot-rolled sheet shipments are up 11 percent.
