Trump Ends Tariffs on UK Following Trade Deal

By on

President Donald Trump announced the first new U.S. trade deal, this one with the United Kingdom. As a result, the president ended tariffs on steel and aluminum products from the UK.

The UK represents a small portion of the import market into the U.S., accounting for just 1 percent of all steel products and an even smaller share of aluminum products.

“While there is a negligible amount of aluminum traded between the U.S. and UK, this news bears watching as it could establish a framework for how aluminum is addressed in future trade deals,” said Charles Johnson, president of the Aluminum Association.
