
U.S. Steel Shipments Up 4.8% in 2018

U.S. steel mills shipped 7.8 million net tons of steel in December, reported the American Iron and Steel Institute, Washington. Steel shipments for the month decreased 0.4 percent from November but increased 6.5 percent over December 2017.
Shipments of hot-rolled sheets rose 2 percent month over month, while shipments of cold-rolled sheets and hot-dipped galvanized sheets both dropped 6 percent.
For the year, the U.S. shipped 95.3 million net tons of steel in 2018, a year-over-year increase of 4.8 percent.
