KASTO invited customers, media and others to its world headquarters in Germany to celebrate its 180th anniversary.
Germany’s KASTO celebrated its 180th anniversary in style in June, welcoming media and customers from around the world to its headquarters in Achern, Baden-Württemberg, to see firsthand the company’s dual commitment to both sawing technology and storage.
A weeklong event started with a presentation and tour of the headquarters facility, where research and development is integrated with production. Founder Karl Stolzer’s descendants, still operating the company through its sixth generation, walked visitors through the remarkable history, from its days as a workshop for the carpenter Stolzer to its standing as a modern machine tool manufacturer.
On Day 2, guests were invited to tour SEW-EURODRIVE, a leading manufacturer of motors around the world with a headquarters facility in Bruschal, Baden. The ultra-modern factory has seamlessly integrated an array of KASTO saws and its storage options. The production process is almost entirely automated, which is true whether the batch size is one or 10,000.
With 22,000 employees worldwide, 17 production plants and 92 Drive Technology Centers in 56 countries and sales of $4.5 billion euros, SEW-EURODRIVE is one of the global market leaders in the drive technology/drive automation sector.
Following that, the tour visited VBE, a service center stocking a variety of products including sheet, bar and tube. The company serves the construction industry and building trades.
From KASTO, VBE uses both the honeycomb KASTO unicompact system for storage as well as the new KASTOpick bar.
On the final day, another nearby service center was toured, SchwarzwaldEisen, located in Lahr, Baden. There, the long-time customers are utilizing the warehouse management system, KASTOlogic, as well as the intelligent app, KASTOmobile. The two solutions allow the distributor to simplify and accelerate its processes, minimise the error rate and track all batches seamlessly.
“We love steel.” With this motto, Schwarzwald-Eisenhandel GmbH & Co.KG – abbreviated as SchwarzwaldEisen – has evolved into the leading steel distributor in the region. The roots of the fourth-generation family-operated company date back to 1870. In conjunction with facilities elsewhere in Germany and Switzerland, the group ships approximately 120,000 tons of material annually.
