November Brass Mill Imports Up, Exports Down

U.S. imports of brass mill products increased in November, while exports decreased, according to the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council
Imports totaled 42.2 million pounds in November, a 9.7 percent increase over the year-ago month. Exports for the month dropped 13.7 percent year over year to 18 million pounds.
For the year to date, imports of brass mill products totaled 485.8 million pounds, a 7.3 percent increase. Exports through the first 11 months of 2018 were down 4.9 percent to 231.9 million pounds.
Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in November at 6.8 million pounds, followed by Canada at 5.2 million pounds, China at 1.5 million pounds, South Korea at 734,917 pounds and United Arab Emirates at 344,056 pounds.
Imports from Germany totaled 9.3 million pounds in November, followed by South Korea at 5 million pounds, Mexico at 3.4 million pounds, Canada at 2.5 million pounds and Brazil at 2.4 million pounds.
Imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 16 million pounds in November, while exports of those products totaled 7.2 million pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 13.3 million pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 3.5 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 9.6 million pounds, while exports totaled 6 million pounds.
