Dec. 18, 2013 People on the Move Michael Hoffman, vice chairman of Kloeckner Metals and the Metal Center News 2011 Service Center Executive of the Year, will retire at the end of the year. The South Africa native headed up Macsteel Service Centers USA at the time of its merger with Namasco Corp., creating one of North America’s largest distribution companies in Kloeckner Metals. He is currently winding down his term as chairman of the Metals Service Center Institute. ICI Metals, Strongsville, Ohio, has appointed Jane Johnston to the position of business development manager. She will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic sales plan to increase ICI Metals’ market share in aluminum, stainless and CF carbon sales and distribution. Rick Crotts has joined Chicago Tube & Iron Co., Romeoville, Ill., as an outside sales representative for the company’s Des Moines division. He will be responsible for northwestern Iowa, including Des Moines, Mason City, Storm Lake and Sioux City. Peoria, Ill.-based O’Brien Steel has added Bob Pepoff as product manager for high-strength plate. The 30-year veteran of the steel industry will be responsible for growing O’Brien Steel’s presence in high-strength plate sales and processing. John Buras has joined Alloy Metals and Tubes International Inc., Houston, as an inside sales representative. Buras has 16 years of experience in the distribution business supporting oil and gas customers.
