March 30, 2016 People on the Move Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., Los Angeles, has promoted James D. Hoffman to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Hoffman’s responsibilities will be expanded to include all of Reliance’s operating businesses. Olympic Steel has created two new senior management positions at its Minneapolis operation. Thomas Ehlers will serve as general manager, Minnesota Plate Division, and Thomas Sacco will serve as GM of the coil division. Jerry Townes has joined American Specialty Metals, Willoughby, Ohio, as vice president of sales. Townes has more than 31 years of experience in the tool steel market. Marmon/Keystone Corporate Credit Manager Rick Kienzle retired from the Butler, Pa.-based company after 41 years of service. Tom Fern has assumed his duties, with responsibilities for credit control for the company’s U.S. and Mexico locations. Scott Bacon has been appointed vice president of sales and marketing at Metal Sales Manufacturing Corp., Louisville, Ky. Ben Stansel has joined United Performance Metals, Hamilton, Ohio, as a business analyst. His primary responsibilities will include pricing and contract management for the specialty metals service center. Roger Lindsay is retiring as Chicago-based Ryerson’s chief human resources officer, a position he has held since 2011. His duties will be filled by Mark Silver, Ryerson’s executive vice president, general counsel and secretary. Plymouth Tube Co., Warrenville, Ill., has named three individuals to its senior management team. Jim Jackson is the company’s new chief financial officer, MaryAnn Hartl has been appointed director of human resources, and Azam Owaisi joins Plymouth in a newly created role as vice president of sales, marketing and business development.
