Feb 3, 2016 Feb. 3, 2016 Reliance Subsidiary Signs Multi-Year Defense Deal AMI Metals, a subsidiary of Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., has been awarded a multi-year contract by BAE SYSTEMS to supply aluminum plate for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Hawk and Typhoon programs. The five-year contract, with an estimated value of $100 million, runs Jan. 1, 2017, through Dec. 31, 2021, with the possibility of additional years. The contract requirements include value-added, just-in-time, cut-to-size and cut-to-shape processing for use at BAE and its subcontractor facilities. This follows an award by Lockheed Martin, in October 2015, for AMI to provide aluminum products and services for the F-35 program in a five-year contract valued at an estimated $300 million. "It is an honor to be selected by the team at BAE SYSTEMS for this critical role of service provision,” says Scott A. Smith, president of Brentwood, Tenn.-based AMI Metals, Inc. “We are confident in our ability to support them going forward with the aluminum products and services needed for the manufacture of their current and future programs."
