TimkenSteel, Union Finally Reach Agreement

Following two successive agreements voted down by the United Steelworkers, the USW has voted in favor of a new four-year contract with TimkenSteel. The agreement represents approximately 1,650 employees at the company’s Canton, Ohio, facility.
The company and the union reached an initial tentative agreement in early October, then a second tentative pact in early November. Members of Local 1123 voted each of those deals down. The new deal, which is in effect until Sept. 27, 2021, offers employees increases to permanent base wages, signing bonus and additional bonus opportunities and healthcare and retirements benefits.
"This contract ratification keeps our employees – many of whom are second- or third-generation steelworkers – earning some of the area's top wages and keeps our company competitive in manufacturing the world's best special bar quality steel,” says Bill Bryan, TimkenSteel's executive vice president of manufacturing & supply chain.
