Trai-Cor Processing has completed installation of a new cut-to-length line at its facility in East Chicago, Ind. The line was previously operated in a plant in Panama City, Fla., and survived a 2018 hurricane that damaged the structures over and around it.
The ½-inch by 84-inch wide Pro-Eco line was installed with substantial upgrades to the shear and measuring systems. The original shear was upgraded to 1-inch to be able to go the full ½-inch range in high-strength and high-carbon steel.
Trai-Cor Inc. also operates a cold-rolling mill, annealing furnaces, slitters and a 20-inch cut-to-length line.
“The addition of a heavy gauge CTL has made us into a one-stop-shop service center for all the customers’ needs. The close proximity to the integrated mills provides Trai-Cor an edge as the processor of choice,” says Subs Visvanathan, vice president and partner.
