Board Gives Approval to California Rebar Mill

By on
The Kern County Board of Supervisors in California has approved plans from Pacific Steel Group to build a rebar mill and scrap metal recycling facility. It will become the first new steel mill in California in more than 50 years.

“Today not a pound of steel is manufactured in the state of California,” said Mark Olson, the vice president of mill operations for Pacific Steel Group.

The $540 billion project in Mojave in Eastern Kern County will result in a nearly 500,000-square-foot project to produce approximately 380,000 tons of rebar annually.
