Owen Industries Acquires Omaha Steel

Owen Industries, Inc., Carter Lake, Iowa, has acquired the assets of Omaha Steel in Wahoo, Neb. This acquisition provides OII an opportunity to acquire a newly built facility, considered one of the strongest and most capable steel foundries in the U.S.

OII is expanding its offerings to include the design and production of innovative casting solutions for industries that demand optimal performance and reliability. The company sees an enormous opportunity to offer a wider range of steel materials and services to current and future customers in the industrial, commercial, nuclear, energy and bridge sectors, many of them located in the central U.S. This will create additional competitive advantages to customers, according to the company.

In addition, this combination of assets will help drive the following efficiencies and additional offerings:

  • Scrap steel that can be produced through OII's normal processes can now be directly utilized by Omaha Steel to melt and produce castings.
  • Several of the value add services, from coatings to machining, can be utilized to offer more to OII's customers, while creating opportunities for the company.
  • The acquisition will allow OII to expand its customer base with additional services and products all associated with steel procurement and processing.

OII is the parent company of PVS Structures, PVS Metals, NPS Metals, MVS Metals and NP Finishing.
