Report: Hyundai Eyes Louisiana for Steel Plant

Korean automaker Hyundai is weighing the possibility of constructing an electric arc mill in Louisiana to defend itself from potential new tariffs enacted by the Trump administration, the
Korea Economic Daily reported. It would be Hyundai Motor Group's first overseas mill.
According to the report, the company was considering locations in Texas, Georgia and Louisiana, but is leaing toward Louisiana. The company operates Hyundai automotive plants in Alabama and Georgia plus a Kia plant, also in Georgia.
The tentative plans call for breaking ground in 2026 with completion in 2029.
