Operations at Universal Stainless & Alloy Products’ Bridgeville, Pa., electric arc melting furnace are now returned to full operating capacity. Operations at the furnace resumed in May.
The furnace was idled following a metal spill in April, caused by a breakthrough at the bottom of a furnace shell. There were no injuries or environmental impact as a result of the spill. All other operations continued to function normally, and there were no near-term interruptions to product delivery schedules, USAP executives said.
“I am very pleased to report that our melt shop is back up and running. Our team accomplished this on schedule, even as they dealt with substantial clean-up and other challenges. Business conditions remain strong and our backlog has continued to grow reaching a new record high,” said Chairman, President and CEO Dennis Oates.
