
Red Metal Shipments Down in March

Apr 30, 2019Shipments of copper products decreased slightly in March compared with the previous month, reports the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association, Overland Park, Kan.
Total warehouse shipments decreased 3.8 percent in March to 21 million pounds. Finished goods shipments were worth $2.1 million, a decrease of 12.7 percent in value from February.
Among copper strip and sheet products, C200/300/400 shipments decreased 12.3 percent to 3.9 million pounds, while C500/600/700 shipments fell 12.4 percent to 551,000 pounds.
In copper plate, C200/300/400 shipments fell 61.1 percent to 96,000 pounds, and C500/600/700 shipments of 57,000 pounds increased 46 percent from February.
Among copper rod/bar/profile/hollow shipments, C200/300/400 shipments increased 1.2 percent, C500/600/700 shipments increased 16.3 percent and C800/900 shipments jumped 23.4 percent.
Among pipe and tube products, C200/300/400 increased 21.5 percent and C500/600/700 shipments fell 86.6 percent in March.
