Red Metal Imports, Exports Up in October

Dec. 21, 2016 Red Metal Imports, Exports Up in October U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products increased in October, reports the Copper and Brass Fabricators Council in Washington. Imports totaled 38.6 million pounds, an increase of 5 percent compared with 2015, while exports climbed 10.5 percent to 22.4 million pounds. For the year to date, brass mill imports declined 8 percent to 384.7 million pounds, while exports declined 3 percent to 203.5 million pounds, compared with 2015. Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in October at 8.8 million pounds, followed by Canada at 5.7 million pounds, South Korea at 2.5 million pounds, China at 1.1 million pounds and Saudi Arabia at 633,908 pounds. Imports from Germany in October totaled 10.7 million pounds, followed by Canada at 3.9 million pounds, Mexico at 3.9 million pounds, South Korea at 3.3 million pounds and Peru at 2.2 million pounds. October imports of all brass mill sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 15.1 million pounds, while exports totaled 9.6 million pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 13.2 million pounds, while exports totaled 3.8 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 7.1 million pounds, while exports totaled 7.3 million pounds.
