Brass Mill Imports, Exports Increase in November

U.S. imports and exports of brass mill products increased in November, reports the Washington-based Copper and Brass Fabricators Council. Imports of brass mill products totaled 36.2 million pounds for the month, a 7.2 percent increase over November 2015, while exports increased 7.3 percent to 20.1 million pounds.

For the year to date, U.S. imports of brass mill products declined 6.8 percent to 421.0 million pounds, while exports declined 1.7 percent to 223.6 million pounds.

Mexico was the leading destination for U.S. exports of brass mill products in November at 7.9 million pounds, followed by Canada at 5.9 million pounds, China at 1.6 million pounds, South Korea at 1.0 million pounds and Germany at 681,327 pounds.

Imports from Germany totaled 9.9 million pounds, followed by South Korea at 3.8 million pounds, Mexico at 3.6 million pounds, Canada at 3.2 million pounds and Vietnam at 2.2 million pounds.

November imports of all sheet, strip, plate and foil products totaled 12.8 million pounds, while exports of those products totaled 8.5 million pounds. Imports of all pipe and tube products totaled 13.6 million pounds, while pipe and tube exports totaled 2.7 million pounds. Imports of all profiles, rods and bars totaled 6.8 million pounds, while exports totaled 7.1 million pounds.
