
Red Metal Shipments Down in December

Jan 31, 2018Service center shipments of red metal products declined 26 percent in December compared with the same month in 2016, reports the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association.
Total copper shipments in December were down 24.7 percent to 6.1 million pounds, while alloy shipments declined 27.3 percent to 5.9 million pounds.
Full-year shipments of copper and alloy products in 2017 finished even with 2016, up just 0.5 percent. Copper shipments were up 2.7 percent to 115.3 million pounds in 2017, while alloy shipments were down 1.7 percent to 110.5 million pounds.
