Columbus, Miss.-based Mississippi Steel Processing has installed a Red Bud Industries .625-inch by 84-inch by 80,000-pound heavy gauge cut-to-length line with a 40-foot stretcher leveler.

BIG KAISER Precision Tooling, Hoffman Estates, Ill., has released two smaller sizes of the EWN Smart Damper precision boring heads, which eliminate vibration in deep-hole finish boring with a patented damping system. The additions make it the first time the EWN Smart Damper has been available in diameters below 1.260 inches, down to 0.787 inches. The CK1 head has a length of 3.937 inches and the CK2 is 4.921 inches.

O’Neal Steel, Birmingham, Ala., has appointed Andria Cleghorn as chief financial officer. The appointment was effective Feb. 1.

For the first time since 2015, global steel production declined in 2020 compared with the prior year, the World Steel Association reported. Global production last year totaled 1.86 billion tons, a 0.9 percent decline from 2019.

Kevin Dempsey, president and CEO of the American Iron and Steel Institute, exrpessed the association's support for President Biden’s signing of an executive order to strengthen Buy America and other made-in-America domestic procurement programs that require, among other things, that American steel be used in federally funded projects.
