Simonds International, Fitchburg, Mass., offers a band saw blade designed to provide low vibration and high efficiency cutting of steel grating. The new BITEC PLUS blade, manufactured by Simonds’ partner WESPA in Germany, features a wide band in a variety of widths from 1.25 inch to 2.0 inches, which provides maximum beam strength for higher blade tension and cutting rates, making it less susceptible to damage. Unlike conventional wide band blades, the new Simonds blade offers a fine-tooth pitch of 5-8 teeth per inch, which delivers increased productivity, quieter cutting and longer blade life in grating applications, the company claims.
