Samuel, Son & Co., Mississauga, Ontario, and Carpenter Technology Corp., Philadelphia, have formed a strategic alliance to provide end-to-end supply chain solutions for the additive manufacturing marketplace. With a full spectrum of additive manufacturing capabilities now available to customers across both companies, this new alliance provides customers with turnkey solutions specific to their needs, the companies claim.
“Samuel and Carpenter have added a new dimension to additive manufacturing in terms of end-to-end capabilities. With the ability to now offer customers the powder of their choosing, material qualification, design, prototyping, production, and delivery is truly remarkable,” says Tony R. Thene, CEO of Carpenter Technology Corp.
Samuel recently acquired Burloak Technologies, an industry supplier of highly-engineered additive manufacturing solutions. Carpenter’s position as a leading global producer of powder metals and specialty wire for additive manufacturing, combined with Samuel’s manufacturing, metal processing and distribution expertise, and Burloak’s world class additive manufacturing design and development capabilities, offers a collaboration of expertise across all aspects of the additive manufacturing spectrum, the companies claim.
"This partnership brings a real shift in approach for customers who are looking for answers that additive manufacturing can solve,” says Peter Adams, president, Burloak Technologies. “The Burloak, Samuel, Carpenter collaboration is truly one-of-a-kind in the metals industry.”
With full access to R&D and design engineering capabilities through this strategic alliance, customers will be able to solve real-time contract needs in a seamless manner by utilizing expertise across the entire additive manufacturing production spectrum, executives claim. “It’s comparable to one-stop shopping for our customers,” says Bill Chisholm, Samuel’s president and CEO. “What we are providing is an integrated supply chain solution in an industry with unbelievable potential.”
