Alliance Steel has made its first new equipment purchase for its impending move to Gary, Ind. Alliance has ordered a Heavy Gage Slitting Line from Red Bud Industries.

The new line will be capable of processing material up to 0.500-inch thick by 76 inches wide, with a maximum coil weight of 90,000 pounds. The line will incorporate Red Bud’s Precision Large Arbor Technology, which is specifically designed for slitting heavy gauge, high-strength material.

The system also features a hands-free push-button strip threading from the uncoiler to the recoiler, allowing the operator to thread the coil without coming in contact with the strip. Other features include self-nesting tooling bars and guarding.

Alliance announced in 2018 its plans to relocate from Bedford Park, Ill., to a facility in Gary.
