JSW Steel USA, Inc. a subsidiary of India’s JSW Steel Ltd., will invest $110 million in steel plate mill modernization projects with sustainable technology and equipment within its manufacturing facilities in Baytown, Texas. These investments will enable the production of high-quality monopile steel slabs to support the U.S. Administration’s new actions to expand offshore wind energy by deploying 30 gigawatts of offshore wind by 2030, enough to power 10 million homes with clean energy.

National Tube Supply, a premium supplier of mechanical tube and chrome bar, has broken ground on a new facility in Hemet, Calif.

Celebrating its 30th anniversary of assembling BMWs for the world, BMW Manufacturing opened its press shop as it prepares to assemble the new BMW X3 Sports Activity Vehicle at the Spartanburg, S.C., plant. The press shop will stamp sheet metal parts for the new BMW X3, which made its North American debut during the ceremony. These components include hang-on parts such as the vehicle’s four doors, fenders, lift gate, and exterior body sides.

Demand for aluminum products in the United States and Canada increased 4.3 percent in the first quarter compared with the same three months of 2023, the Aluminum Association reported. Demand totaled just under 7 billion pounds through March.

Since its establishment in 1999 by TXI Chaparral, the mill has manufactured world-class products, provided outstanding career opportunities, fostered strong community partnerships, and served as a leader in sustainability, the company claimed. Gerdau acquired the mill in September 2007.

Hypertherm's OMAX Corporation has launched OMAX Order, a mobile application designed to streamline part orders for OMAX machine owners and operators.

Friedman Industries reported net earnings of $17.3 million in its fiscal year 2024, the second-most profitable year in the company's history. Net sales for the year totaled $516.3 million, a 5.6 percent decline from 2023.
