Tenaris Restarts Canada Facility

By on
Steel pipe and tube maker Tenaris will resume manufacturing at its Prudential facility in Calgary, Alberta, after a two-year idling of operations due to low oil and gas prices and the glut of imports. Operations on the ERW mill are set to resume in July.

“After two very difficult years, it is energizing to be restarting production at our Prudential facility,” says Guillermo Moreno, vice president and managing director for Tenaris in Canada. “Growth opportunities through our Rig Direct commercial strategy, greater stability in oil and gas prices, remedies against certain unfair trade, and a renewed commitment from our employees has given us the confidence to resume operations.”

The announcement follows an agreement with the United Steelworkers Local 7226 in which Tenaris will recall approximately 100 union employees.
