Mar 28, 2018Metalforming companies expect an improvement in business conditions during the next three months, according to the Precision Metalforming Association.
In its latest Business Conditions Report, PMA reported that 49 percent expect conditions to improve, up from 48 percent last month, while just 6 percent anticipate a decline, up from 3 percent in February.
Most of the responses to PMA’s survey were taken before the U.S. government’s decision to impose a 25 percent tariffs on steel imports and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports. The PMA has previously expressed its opposition to the tariffs.
Also in the survey, respondents said current average daily shipping levels remained up, but not to the same level as February. Nearly half the respondents, 47 percent, reported shipping levels above three months earlier, down from 55 percent in February.
