Red Metal Shipments Down in February

Mar 26, 2019Shipments of copper products decreased slightly in February compared with the
previous month, reports the Copper and Brass Servicenter Association, Overland Park, Kan.
Total warehouse shipments decreased 3.5 percent in February to 21.8 million pounds. Finished goods shipments were worth $2.4 million, a decrease of 12.8 percent in value from January.
Among copper strip and sheet products, C200/300/400 shipments increased 4,25 percent to 4.5 million pounds, while C500/600/700 shipments fell 8.8 percent to 629,000 pounds.
In copper plate, C200/300/400 shipments jumped 32.8 percent to 247,000 pounds, and C500/600/700 shipments of 39,000 pounds decreased 48 percent from the prior month.
Among copper rod/bar/profile/hollow shipments, C200/300/400 shipments decreased 11.8 percent, C500/600/700 shipments decreased 1.4 percent and C800/900 shipments dropped 22.2 percent.
Among pipe and tube products, C200/300/400 and C500/600/700 shipments fell 42.7 percent and 30.5 percent, respectively, in February.
