Curtis Steel Orders Multiple Lines from Red Bud

Red Bud Industries has received an order for a Precision Blanking Line, Low Passline Slitter and a Packaging Line from Curtis Steel Company LLC, a Houston-based service center. Curtis Steel is one of the largest flat-rolled steel distributors in Texas.
The new blanking line will be designed and configured to process hot-rolled, cold-rolled and galvanized material. It will have the capability of processing up to 50,000-pound master coils at widths up to 60 inches and thicknesses up to 0.250 inches. The line will include Red Bud Industries’ direct drive servo roll feed, allowing Curtis Steel the capability of producing close tolerance blanks. The new line will also include a number of features that allow the line to be set up and changed over quickly while also reducing personnel requirements.
The new slitter will be rated for up to 50,000-pound master coils at widths up to 60 inches and thicknesses up to 0.075 inches. A unique tooling exchange system will allow up to 12 dedicated setups to be stored for use at any time.
The packaging line will support the new slitting line as well as one of Curtis Steel’s existing machines. There will be two fully automatic banding tables so the line can handle a high throughput of slit coils.
