Friedman Industries, Longview, Texas, has appointed Michael J. Taylor as president and CEO of the company. He had been serving as interim president and interim CEO since December 2016, and as chairman of the board of directors. He will continue to serve as chairman.
Before joining Friedman in 2016, Taylor served as president of Cargill Metals, one of the largest service center companies in North America at the time.
The company believes Taylor's extensive experience and knowledge of the steel industry during his 33-year career "will be a vital asset in his leadership role and qualify him to serve as the company's president and CEO."
Founded in 1965 and headquartered in Longview, Friedman operates two divisions: Flat Roll Division and Tubular Division.
