Lapham-Hickey Acquires Fabrication Company

Lapham-Hickey Steel has acquired SMC Metal Fabricators, Oshkosh, Wis. SMC is a leading fabricator with 115,000 square feet of manufacturing space located next door to Lapham-Hickey’s two existing Oshkosh facilities. SMC offers a full range of laser cutting, forming, welding, powder coat painting and assembly services.

The acquisition is expected to close on Sept. 30.

“We are extremely excited to have over 70 dedicated team members of SMC join the Lapham-Hickey family. The products and services SMC offers the marketplace will enhance our existing fabrication services in Wisconsin,” said Brian Hickey, president of Lapham-Hickey. “Our combined production platforms will allow us to better service both Lapham-Hickey and SMC customers throughout the Midwest.”

Lapham-Hickey Steel is a fourth-generation family-owned and operated full-line carbon service center. Founded in 1926 and headquartered in Bedford Park, Ill., the company has 12 locations throughout the Midwest, East Coast and Southeast. The company ranked 26th in the most recent MCN Top 50, with 2021 revenues of $720 million.
