By on

Lapham-Hickey has agreed to acquire a controlling stake in VC Laminations, a premier electrical steel lamination stamper and valued-added services provider.  VC Laminations is a family-owned company located in Queretaro, Mexico.

The company operates out of a brand new 65,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.  VC supplies a full line of E&I and motor laminations to the electrical and power generation markets. It operates 10 high-speed progressive stamping presses, in-house annealing capabilities and multiple cut-to-length lines.

“As we developed a relationship with VC Laminations and the Casas family, it was clear their family business shared similar core values with Lapham-Hickey. The alignment of the culture at VC and the shared vision for both companies to be a market leader in the electrical steel market will be a solid foundation for our partnership,” said Will Hickey, Lapham-Hickey’s chief commercial officer..

“This partnership positions Lapham-Hickey to be a leading service center in providing electrical steel and value-added solutions for customers using electrical steel. With new electric vehicles and the overall push for energy efficiency across all electrical sectors, VC Laminations will be a great partner with any customer using electrical steel laminations,” said Mike Gibney, director of electrical steel sales at Lapham-Hickey.

VC Laminations will continue to operate under the current name, with their operating teams providing their customers the reliable service and quality products they have been accustomed to for years, the companies said.

“My grandfather was the pioneer of stamping electrical steel laminations in Mexico since the 1960s.  Afterwards, my father began VC and named it after his dad, Victor Casas. We now have two amazing family operated companies that share the same values and passion in building relations with their customers,” said Rodrigo Casas, general director of VC Laminations.

Lapham-Hickey Steel is a fourth-generation family owned and full service provider of cold-rolled motor lamination steel, non-grain oriented electrical steel and grain oriented electrical steel.  Lapham-Hickey can process slit coil, sheets, shunts and DG cores for the electrical steel markets out of the Chicago and Rome, Ga., locations.
