Lapham-Hickey Orders Red Bud Slitting Line

Lapham-Hickey Steel, Bedford Park, Ill., has ordered a high-speed slitting line from Red Bud Industries, Red Bud, Ill. The new 60-inch by 60,000-pound line will be capable of processing material from 0.008 inches up to 0.250 inches in thickness.
The line will be installed as part of a 35,000-square-foot expansion at the company’s Bedford Park facility. The line is designed for quick setup and changeover, with a coil prep and automatic coil loading system provided. It also features a hands-free, push-button strip threading from the uncoiler directly into the recoiler’s gripper slot, allowing operators to thread coils without coming in contact with the strip.
The system will also include three slitting heads, a double looper and a dual-helical scrap choppers. Also, a dual-mandrel recoiler is included, plus a complete packaging line with a fully automatic bending system and stretch wrapping system.
