Reliance Promotes Lewis to President

Karla Lewis has been promoted to president and appointed to the board of directors at Reliance Steel & Aluminum Inc., Los Angeles. The move is consistent with the board’s executive leadership succession plan.

Lewis has been serving as senior executive vice president and CFO of North America’s largest service center company. She joined Reliance in 1992 as corporate controller and has held positions of increasing responsibility since then.

“The promotion of Karla Lewis to President as well as her appointment to the Board marks another important step in the Reliance board of directors’ strategic, deliberate and well-executed long-term succession plan. Karla has been at the center of Reliance’s extremely well executed growth strategy and her knowledge of both Reliance and the larger metals service center industry is extraordinary,” said Mark Kaminski, Reliance’s chairman of the board.

As president, Lewis will have general responsibility for management of the operations of the corporation. Mrs. Lewis assumed the duties of president on January 15. 

In concert with the move, Reliance also announced the promotion of Arthur Ajemyan to vice president, CFO. He had been serving as vice president, corporate controller since 2012.

Also, David Hannah will retire from the board of directors. Hannah served as CEO from 1999 until 2015, overseeing the growth of Reliance into the largest service center company. He was the Metal Center’ News second Service Center Executive of the Year.
