Union Partners Acquires Lamination Specialties

By on
Union Partners has acquired Lamination Specialties Corporation, one of the largest manufacturers of electrical steel laminations in North America. Operating out of three locations throughout the greater Chicago area, the company distributes products throughout North America and overseas.

In addition to its lamination capabilities, the company also operates a full-service electrical steel service center with value-added capabilities. As the company transitions to new ownership, there will be no disruption of services, executives claim.

Lamination Services joins Union Partners’ portfolio of companies, which includes Mapes & Sprowl, Cortran, Lee Steel, Berg Steel, Chicago Steel, JIT Steel Service, JIT Steel Transport and Opus Metals.

The transaction includes 300,000 square feet of prime manufacturing space and equipment; including more than 40 high-speed stamping presses; four continuous roller-hearth annealing furnaces; precision slitting, cut-to-length and blanking equipment; and value-added offerings, including MITRE cores, distributed gap cores and robotic welding capabilities.

“We are excited to further our reach in the electrical steel and lamination markets. Lamination Specialties offers an expertise earned through a rich history in the industry, and our combined offerings and talents will benefit customers everywhere,” says Chris Hutter, co-founder of Union Partners, Oak Brook, Ill.

Union Partners also supplies the electrical steel and lamination markets through its Mapes & Sprowl and Cortran operations.
