FABTECH Preview

By on
Though the first FABTECH exhibit in Orlando, Fla., remains a half-year away, this spring offers two chances to see the latest in metalworking machinery.
This month, FABTECH Mexico returns to Cintermax in Monterey for a three-day run from May 7-9. Exhibitors from around the world will arrive for the show held near the country’s manufacturing hub.
Next month, FABTECH Canada makes its biannual stop at the Toronto Congress Centre. This year’s show runs June 11-13.
Here’s a list of some of the leading equipment makers who will be displaying their wares at one or both international stops.

TRUMPF -   Mexico Booth: 904        Canada Booth: 3001
The fastest TRUMPF mobile bending cell ever will be introduced to the North American market at FABTECH Canada. The new automation solution, TRUMPF’s Flex Cell offers highly efficient bending in combination with the TruBend 7050 press brake.
In just a few simple steps, operators can dock the mobile robot cell onto the bending machine and operate it automatically. The machine can run autonomously for several hours. This automation solution helps companies handle order surges and combat labor shortages. The combined footprint of the Flex Cell and the TruBend 7050 is under 10 square meters, compact enough for any production environment.
The Flex Cell has a double-sized material buffer that ensures it has enough material to feed the TruBend 7050 throughout a night shift. A vacuum combination gripper on the robot arm enables fast and safe loading and unloading. Using the proven TRUMPF TecZone Bend software, a bending program can be created in just a few seconds.

AIDA -   Mexico Booth: 504
AIDA is a leading supplier of metal stamping presses and metal forming equipment. Through engineering, manufacturing, sales, service and support,  AIDA provides partnerships to numerous industries around the world.
AIDA mechanical and servo presses are available in capacities from 35 to 4,000 tons and from 1 to 800 strokes per minute. Single press, tandem line, high-speed, rolling and cold-forging models for single die, transfer and progressive applications provide a full range of production capacity.
Additionally,  AIDA offers material handling systems and automation systems for turnkey solutions.

Flow International    Mexico Booth: 1404
Flow Waterjet    Canada Booth: 5061

Flow International Corporation, a leading developer and manufacturer of ultrahigh-pressure waterjet cutting systems, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2024. The company will mark five decades of innovation at both shows.
Since its inception in 1974, Flow has been at the forefront of revolutionizing waterjet cutting technology, transforming industries, and empowering businesses worldwide, Flow claimed. From the development of the world’s first intensifier pump to becoming a highly trusted name in precision cutting solutions, Flow has continuously evolved to meet the ever-changing needs of its customers.
“Reaching this milestone is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, as well as the trust and support of our customers around the world,” said Brian Sherick, president of Flow. “As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we reflect on our rich history of innovation and look forward to pushing the boundaries of waterjet technology in the years to come.”

Hypertherm:   Mexico Booth: 1704        Canada Booth: 7050
Hypertherm will display the new Powermax SYNC series of air plasma cutting and gouging systems at FABTECH Canada. The systems feature built-in intelligence and a single-piece cartridge consumables.  The revolutionary Powermax SYNC will change the way you work, Hypertherm claimed.

MC Machinery:   Canada Booth: 3019
MC Machinery will showcase the GX-F ADVANCED fiber laser, a Mitsubishi Diamond BB Series electric press brake, a Mitsubishi Diamond BH Series hybrid press brake and an ADIRA hydraulic press brake at FABTECH Canada.
With the latest in artificial intelligence and gas-reduction technology, the Mitsubishi GX-F ADVANCED Series of two-dimensional fiber lasers delivers more power while using less nitrogen and requiring less operator intervention.
The GX-F ADVANCED Series includes the Mitsubishi Laser-patented AGR-MIX gas- and burr-reduction nozzle technology, which improves cut quality while reducing gas consumption when cutting mild steel – without the need for external blending tanks or high-pressure oxygen. Building on Mitsubishi Laser’s assist gas reduction nozzle technology that saw nitrogen assist gas consumption savings of up to 75 percent, the new AGR-MIX technology adds a further reduction of up to 50 percent without compromising cut quality.

BLM GROUP:   Mexico Booth: 1504    Canada Booth: 3031
BLM GROUP USA, a global leader in the manufacture of tube and flat sheet processing solutions, has introduced its new lasertube offering, the LT12. The LT12 lasertube system bridges the gap between the company’s larger LT14, which is designed for processing long, heavy profiles and the smaller LT8.20 for small batches of medium to large sections and open profiles.
The LT12 can cut light and heavy tubes and profiles up to 305 millimeters in diameter, while providing flexibility, high performance and speed – 55 percent less cutting time than other machines capable of the same maximum diameter, BLM Group claimed.
The LT12, which does not require a special foundation, features a 3D cutting head with a slim design for processing special sections and beams. BLM GROUP offers laser sources in 3, 4 or 5 kw and has integrated built-in sensors to monitor optics parameters during operation.  As with all BLM GROUP tube lasers, the LT12 comes equipped with an Active Tools library that maximizes efficiency and ease of use for the operator.

ESAB:   Mexico Booth: 2304
ESAB has launched its Combirex Pro, an enhanced version of its best-selling cutting machine with improved accuracy, durability and speed for automated plasma and oxy-fuel cutting and beveling.
New features include dual linear rails on the cross beam and heavy-duty crane rails mounted on H-beams on both sides of the machine for X axis movement.  A redesigned side carriage increases maximum travel speeds to 1,400 ipm, a 40 percent gain.
The Combirex Pro offers an additional 19.7 inches of cross travel, which enables users to cut a 10-foot plate even if the machine is equipped with ESAB’s DMX Beveller and a water table. The Combirex Pro is available in five different width options from five to 10 feet and with rail lengths from 16.4 to 65.6 feet. It can be equipped with four tools, including one plasma torch or up to four gas torches, as well as marking tools.

AMADA:   Mexico Booth: 1104        Canada Booth: 5001
The VENTIS 3015 AJ (6kW) Fiber Laser Cutting System from AMADA uses the revolutionary Locus Beam Control to achieve infinite locus patterns to ensure optimum beam shape control for a customer’s specific cutting application.
LBC technology delivers high-speed and high-quality cutting up to three times faster than a conventional fiber laser,  AMADA claimed.
A high-brightness fiber laser oscillator maintains optimal quality of the high-energy density laser beam.  As a result, VENTIS provides virtually dross-free cutting of a variety of materials and thicknesses including stainless steel and aluminum.
