Saws Handle High Production
HE&M Saw’s dual-column band saws are engineered for precision, durability and heavy-duty performance, making them an industry leader in metal cutting solutions. Built in the United States, these saws are renowned for their ability to handle high-capacity production while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
Key features include a rigid dual-column design, ensuring stability and minimal vibration during operation, even when cutting large or tough materials. Advanced servo-controlled systems enhance cutting performance by optimizing blade feed rates, reducing human error and extending blade life. Touchscreen controls and integrated material libraries simplify operation, allowing users to achieve consistent results across a variety of applications.
The columns on the newer dual column models are now constructed of structural tubes rather than the fabricated columns creating a stouter arm configuration.  The column chains have been replaced with linear rails for less arm side-play.  These improvements substantially increase blade life and create a smoother running machine.

Bevel Edges While Cutting
Anew flat sheet laser machine from TRUMPF automatically prepares parts for welding during the cutting process. The TruLaser Series 3000 Bevel Cut Edition can produce beveled edges on the top and bottom edge of a component while cutting. This improves productivity through optimum preparation of weld edges and reduces downstream operations.
The TruLaser machine handles complex bevel geometries with ease, can apply chamfers in sheets of up to one inches thick, and is well-suited for mild and stainless steel. The cutting head’s design lets it tilt in all directions and create chamfers up to 50 degrees, depending on sheet thickness. TRUMPF collision protection guarantees process reliability and prevents structural damage by avoiding collisions with tipped parts. The machine’s flexibility enables users to create bevels in different geometries, which is advantageous when welding complex parts or groups of parts.

ESAB Decarbs Cutting
To improve performance while decarbonizing automated cutting of steel, ESAB has launched its new SmartJet Green oxy-hydrogen cutting.  When hydrogen burns in combination with oxygen, the main by-product is water, eliminating the carbon dioxide produced by burning acetylene, natural gas or propane.
Hydrogen cutting has a distinct advantage for cut starts and piercing regardless of plate thickness. A good table operator can preheat a plate in 20 to 30 seconds with oxy-acetylene. Using SmartJet Green technology reduces preheat time to 5 to 10 seconds because the focused hydrogen flame heats a specific point (which also the mitigates the risk of excessive overheating). The SmartJet Green torch can pierce steel up 150 millimeters and edge start on steel up to 300 millimeters.
In terms of average flame temperature, acetylene is 3,200 degrees Celsius, hydrogen is 2,976 degrees and propane is 2,850 degrees. However, because of hydrogen’s focused flame, cutting speeds are equal to, or slightly faster than acetylene.

Advanz Designed for High Productivity
The L.S. Starrett Company offers Advanz MC7 carbide band saw blades for high productivity and longer life when cutting hard materials.  The Advanz MC7 utilizes a progressive four-tooth grind which creates seven distinct chips.
The end result is less wear when compared to blades with conventional triple chip tooth formation. The four-tooth grind is very effective on nickel alloys, stainless and “tough-to-cut” tool and heat-treated steels.
The Advanz MC7 features exclusive Starrett tooth geometry which has a progressively ground trapezoidal tool design and positive rake angle.  The blade is made of sub-micron grain carbide (HV1600). Advanz MC7 blades offer precision cuts for a superb surface finish and provide excellent “cost-per-cut” for production sawing.
Advanz MC7 band saw blades are ideal for solids and bundles of solids. Blades are offered in multiple sizes in widths from 1 ¼ inches to 2 5/8 inches and thicknesses from 0.042 inches to 0.063 inches.  For more information, visit www.starrett.com.
